Diagnostics and repair of a Rapida 75
Troubleshooting of a CAN bus error and recommissioning of a printing press after two months of downtime.
Task
The Rapida 75 printing press had been stopped for more than two months due to a permanent CAN bus communication fault. When the customer contacted me, there was little hope for a quick restart: several specialists had already been on site, various assemblies had been replaced, but the fault remained.

What was implemented
- Complete diagnostics of the control system and CAN bus network
- Checking the Lenze frequency drive
- Searching for the fault source in the main drive circuit
- Removal of the communication board
- Cleaning the board and restoring electrical contacts
- Machine test run

- The cause was found without unnecessary module replacement
- The machine was started after about 2 hours
- The customer was able to continue production
